The exclusive speciality Altbier

It has already won the gold medal twice at the European Beer Star. The taste is characterised by a pronounced, full-bodied taste with a delicate hoppy aroma. The elegant hop bitterness is harmoniously balanced with a light, malty sweetness. Clear caramel notes and light roasted aromas are perceptible in the finish – a top-class speciality Altbier. However, the bitterness does not linger. The harmonious finish leaves you looking forward to the next sip and encourages you to keep drinking.

Appearance

Amber to chestnut brown, clear, with a stable, fine-pored light foam.

Aroma

Malty with clear caramel notes and light roasted aromas reminiscent of dark chocolate.

Goes well with

Grilled dishes, salads with a light dressing, stews, full-flavoured semi-hard cheese, mature Gouda chocolate with nuts.

Full-bodied with a refined hop character

Full flavor without alcohol

Original Schlüssel 0.0% impresses with a full-bodied character and a finely balanced hop aroma. The gentle first sip is defined by a harmonious balance of malty sweetness and restrained hop bitterness. A pleasant carbonation and a well-rounded flavor profile create a refreshing drinking experience. Traditionally brewed and then carefully dealcoholised, it results in an alcohol-free beer with full flavor and an authentic character.

Stike

Original Schlüssel Stike is a speciality Altbier that we only brew twice a year. Served exclusively at our traditional Stike evenings in March and October, it is a real highlight for beer lovers.

The initial taste is malty, followed by intense notes of roasted malt, caramel and coffee, which overlay the strong hop bitterness. In the finish, the fine aroma of Hallertau Perle and Hallertau traditional hops comes to the fore. With an original gravity of 14% and an extended maturing time, the Stike beer has a particularly full body. Like our Original Schlüssel, the “Stike” is fermented by hand in an open vat and brewed using only the best ingredients.

Stike is occasionally available in shops too – a rare experience not to be missed.

Mahogany brown, clear, with a stable foam.

Aroma

Intense roasted aromas, bready with notes of dark chocolate.

Goes well with

Steak, braised meat, goose and game. Full-flavoured mountain cheese and hard cheese. Dark chocolate pralines and Lebkuchen (German gingerbread).

A secret that everyone wants to share

The tradition of Stike goes back to the inventive spirit of hungry monks: during Lent, they secretly brewed a strong beer to fortify themselves despite the abbot’s ban. Hence the name “Stike” – from “stickum”, which means “secret”.

 

Today, we no longer brew the “Stike” beer secretly, but we still follow the old tradition: more malt, roasted malt and hops give the strong 6.5% vol. beer its intense taste that is full of character.

It is exactly this feeling that we want to carry beyond the doors of our brewery. That’s why Original Schlüssel accompanies people not only in the brewery itself, but also at home, on the Rhine meadows, or anywhere else where a toast is shared.

Whether in gastronomy, at events, or for enjoyment at home – Original Schlüssel is available as draft beer in kegs as well as in various bottle formats, bringing a piece of Düsseldorf’s brewery culture to any place.
